Archaeology & the Relics of the Titanomachy

Ten dig beds on the Thessalian Plains, twelve relics for your museum, a five-rung spade ladder, and the eight forged Titan relics that end at Zeus' Stormseal.

The Thessalian Plains

::plains (also ::dig) drops you at the dig camp; the Archaeology button in the Skills tab opens a site picker that teleports you to any pit's gate. Seven dig sites are cut into the plains - three beside the road and four remote pits hidden in clefts in the hills with only a winding footpath in. Each is one huge excavated hole: a rope-fenced rim, a ledge with the site's finds and its restoration bench, a ramp down, and a giant set of remains on the floor - a Titan skeleton, a Leviathan skeleton, a Gorgon fossil, a Minotaur skull, the Earthshaker's trident - with five to seven dig beds dug in around it. Each bed is a rung on a ladder from level 1 to 140. You need a spade in your inventory; any spade digs, the ladder below makes it worthwhile.

XP is the base on-screen drop before your multipliers. Excavating is a mining-style loop: three-tick swings (two with the Godspade), a success chance of 35% + 1% per level capped at 85%, and every find pays Stone clippings, skilling cash, up to 30 Skilling Points, and a roll for a relic. The ladder is tuned to about 28 hours from 99 to 150 at base rates, the same as Runecrafting.

The Elysian sarcophagi in the north-west corner of the plains can each be searched once a minute for a bonus.

Relics and the museum

Every find rolls for each relic individually, rarest first. Restore a relic at the bench (relic + clippings) for xp and a place in your museum, or right-click Fix in your inventory to pay Dracma instead of clippings.

Restoring pays 3x / 10x / 40x a find at your best bed for common / uncommon / rare. The two legendaries are announced world-wide, pay a flat nine-figure xp reward, and the bench hands them back - they are Forge materials, catalogued once and never consumed by the bench.

::museum lists your twelve relics and your live bonus line. Milestones at 4 / 8 / 12 unique relics pay Skilling Points and a permanent +10% / +25% / +50% relic chance. Relics are stackable; a Zeus forge needs 34 of them.

The spade ladder

Every rung is forged from the rung below (::forge → Other → Archaeology) at 100% - a rung that could eat your only spade would be a wall.

"Rare luck" multiplies your odds on everything above common. "Xp" and "success" bonuses stack with the outfit below.

Spades break

Every find rolls a break. The base is 10 points, minus up to 5 for out-levelling the bed (0.25 per level), minus 1 per spade tier and 1 per outfit piece - below one point the surplus becomes a divisor, so a fully kitted digger breaks a spade about one find in 600. A broken spade is not lost: the bench mends it for Dracma (50k for a plain spade, up to 10M for the Godspade).

The Archaeologist's outfit

Seven pieces at 20,000 Skilling Points each: tunic, breeches, boots, gloves, hard hat, Digsite pendant, Explorer's ring. Each is +3% xp, +3% finds, +0.1 rare luck and one fewer break point; the full set adds +5% xp and +0.25 luck on top - about x2.65 rare-relic odds fully kitted with the Godspade.

Relics of the Titanomachy

The end-game of the skill. Eight relics for the ammunition slot ("the relic slot"), forged rung by rung under ::forge → Accessories → Relics from your museum relics. Each recipe consumes the rung below, so you always wear the best one you have made. Only the worn relic counts.

  • The five lesser relics cost 1 rare + 2 uncommons + 3 commons (x3), 30M Dracma, 8 Titan Cores, 10k Ichor Motes and 10M Forgemarks at 80%.
  • Hades' Soul Lantern doubles up on rares and uncommons, same currencies, 80%.
  • Poseidon's Abyssal Crest needs the Poseidon's Trident Shard and Zeus' Stormseal the Thunderbolt Reliquary - the two 1-in-20,000 legendaries - plus three rares, six uncommons, twenty commons, 100M Dracma, 25 Titan Cores, 50k Ichor Motes and 30M Forgemarks. Both are 100%: burning a legendary on a failed roll would be a wall.
⚠
Ranged players

A relic in the ammo slot is never consumed as ammunition, but it does occupy the slot - you will be shooting without arrows. Thrown and charged ranged weapons are unaffected.

Talents

The Provisions tree's Relic Bearer is about relic buffs, not these. Archaeology is not one of the Harvest tree's gathering skills (those are Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing and Farming), so Prospector does not apply - the spade ladder and the outfit are where your xp bonuses come from. The Aura of the Jack-of-Trades and Efficiency Totem perks do work on digs.
