How Seasons Work

Limited-time seasons on top of the main game - season ranks, the 5x5 Season Board, three talent trees, daily and weekly bounties, weekly affixes, a season currency and shop. Seasons only ever add power.

What a season is

A season is a limited-time layer on top of the main game. It opens its own maps, monsters, bosses, skilling, gear and raid, and gives you a second progression track that runs next to your normal account.

You play a season on your main account. There's no fresh character and no wipe, and nothing you already own is touched. Your skills, gear, prestige and talents all come with you.

★

Seasons only ever add power. There's no season damage nerf and no season drop-rate nerf. Everything you earn in a season stays with you when it ends.

The first season is the Season of Hades, and it has its own full guide: Season of Hades. Its raid is covered in The House of Hades.

The Season Board

Everything about a season lives on one screen, the Season Board. Open it with ::season (or ::sb), or talk to the season's board-keeper at its camp. In the Season of Hades that's Athena, in the Ashen Camp.

The board has six tabs:

TabWhat's on it
OverviewYour season rank, XP to the next rank, currency, the week's affixes, and Season News (which bosses are up, what the world is doing).
TasksThe 5x5 task board and its line prizes.
TalentsThe three season talent trees.
BountiesYour daily and weekly contracts, plus rerolls.
RewardsEvery rank milestone and what it pays.
ShopThe season shop, paid in the season's currency.

While you're inside the season's maps, a small rank HUD shows your rank and progress bar.

Season ranks

Almost everything you do in season content pays season XP: kills, season skilling, bounties, tasks, bosses and events.

  • Season XP fills your season rank, from 1 to 100. Each rank costs a bit more than the last.
  • Every rank gives 1 season talent point.
  • Every 5th rank is a milestone with its own prize: season materials, gear pieces, boons, raid keys and big Olympian Bonds. The Rewards tab lists every one.
  • Season rank also opens content. Skilling nodes, shop items and spells all unlock at set ranks, so rank is your key to the season's deeper areas.

The task board

The Tasks tab is a 5x5 grid of 25 tasks. The rows get harder as you go down, from "your first steps in" to legend-tier feats.

  • Every task pays season XP and currency, plus a material bundle.
  • Finish a whole row or a whole column to claim that line's prize. That's 10 line prizes, all different: boons, gear pieces, full forge-recipe material bundles.
  • Finish the whole board for the board prize and a permanent honour, a title bonus that stays on your account after the season ends.

Season talents

The Talents tab has three trees. Each is four tiers deep:

  • Tier 2 opens once you've spent 5 points in that tree, tier 3 at 10 and tier 4 at 15.
  • Most nodes are stacking stats: damage, boss damage, damage reduction, drop rate, season XP, currency and so on.
  • Each tree also has bespoke nodes with their own effect, and a single-point capstone at tier 4.

The first respec is free. After that, each respec costs season currency, doubling each time up to a cap. Talents only work inside the season's content.

Bounties

The Bounties tab gives you 3 daily contracts (they reset at 00:00 UTC) and 3 weekly contracts (they reset on Monday).

  • Every contract pays season XP and currency. Clear all three for a sweep prize.
  • Rerolls: you get 1 free reroll a day. After that, each reroll costs season currency and the price doubles each time. Season donator ranks get extra free rerolls every day (Chthonian +1, Underlord +3).

Weekly affixes

Each week the season rolls affixes that change how its monsters behave. You get one affix in the first two weeks and two after that.

  • Affixes only ever make the monsters harder. They never weaken you.
  • Every active affix pays a bonus on all season XP and currency while it runs.
  • Some talents (for example Warded Soul and Boatman's Blessing in Hades) cut the damage affixes deal.

Currency and the shop

Each season has its own currency, paid by kills, tasks, bounties, ranks and bosses. In Hades it's Obols. The Shop tab sells that season's consumables, spellbook, runes, materials and big bonds, and many items open at a set season rank.

When a season ends

  • You keep everything: gear, materials, bonds, boons, and any honour you've earned.
  • Season-only effects (talents, potions, boons) only work inside the season's own content. They go quiet outside it and wake up again inside.
  • The season's content is switched off, and the next season takes its place.
