Getting Started on Olympus

Your first hour on the mountain - the launcher, the home island, the commands everyone uses, and where the money comes from.

Installing the client

Olympus ships as a small launcher that downloads the game client and the cache for you, and keeps both up to date. Download it from the home page, run it, and log in with any username to create an account.

ℹ
Java

The launcher bundles the Java it needs. If you have an old Olympus.jar or a cache folder from a previous install, delete them and let the launcher fetch fresh copies - a stale cache is the number one cause of "Connection error" on the login screen.

Olympia Nova - the home island

You arrive on Olympia Nova, a Greek island built into the slopes of the mountain. Everything a new hero needs is within a minute's walk of the arrival plaza:

DistrictWhat is there
Agora & BankThe bank podium in the centre of the plaza. Every shop keeper stands around it.
Great Temple (north, up the grand stair)All six slayer masters.
Farm (south)Twelve Olympian farming beds and Demeter (Farming). See the Farming guide.
Quarry of Hephaestus (west)Ore rocks, the three Olympian veins, a furnace and anvils.
Woodcutting grove (west)Stock trees plus the four Olympian trees along the shore.
Harbour (east)Fishing spots including the three Olympian ones.
AmphitheatreThe AFK ground - the target dummy and the bots' benches.
Hercules Training CourseThe level-99 Olympian agility course.
Artemis' Reach (north-west)The Hunter meadow - see the Hunter guide.

Every skill in the Skills tab is clickable - clicking a skill teleports you straight to where it is trained. That is the fastest way to move between districts.

Pick a class

Olympus is PvM only, and every account picks one of five classes with ::classselect. Each class has a signature resource meter that fills as you fight and unleashes automatically:

  • Warrior - Guard builds from hits you take and pops a Bulwark shield plus a retaliating slam.
  • Mage - Mana builds from damage dealt and casts levelled spells (Arcane Nova, Chain Lightning, Meteor) at full.
  • Ranger - Focus starts full and is spent on empowered shots, regenerating per tick and per kill.
  • Berserker - Rage builds from every hit dealt or taken and auto-triggers a 6-second Frenzy of echo strikes.
  • Necromancer - summons that fight beside you.

Classes have their own 10-node talent tree (::ctalents) which levels from damage dealt. You can change class later; talents refund.

Where the money comes from

The coin of the realm is Dracma. You earn it three ways:

  1. Killing things. Every monster pays Dracma on a ladder that runs from a few thousand per kill in the starter zone to millions per kill at the top raids.
  2. Skilling. Every gathering or production action pays Dracma scaled to the resource's level - a level-99 gather pays about 3,000, a level-99 craft about 4,500. That works out at roughly 3-4.5M an hour. See Skilling overview.
  3. Trading. Sell to other players on the Agora (::ge); a 2% tithe is taken from the seller's proceeds. Shops buy at item value, and the Forge's salvage crucible turns unwanted gear into Forgemark.

Skilling also pays Skilling Points (spent at Athena (Skilling Shop) at home) and rolls for Olympian Bonds and mystery boxes on every action.

Your first goals

  1. 1
Speak to Hebe (Starter Store) at the plaza for a starter kit, then kill your way up the starter zone ladder - Minotaur, Scorpion, Naiad, Cyclops, Lesser Titan, Talos. Each unlocks the next.
  2. 2
Get a gathering skill to 99. At 99 every skill opens an Olympian tier that runs to 150 and needs a tool from the Skilling Point Store. Woodcutting is the friendliest first climb.
  3. 3
Claim your daily login and vote rewards (::vote), and link your Discord (::linkdiscord) - Discord roles grant in-game buffs.
  4. 4
Complete achievements. They pay Olympian Talent Sigil, which are the main source of talent points.
  5. 5
Open ::talents and put your first points into Harvest (skilling) or Onslaught (combat).

World events

Every 30 minutes the Aetherheart World Tree or the Titansteel Meteor appears somewhere on the island. Both pay triple Skilling Points and are worth dropping everything for. See World events.
